History of PCC(S)

Pregnancy Counselling & Care (Scotland) began as ‘Lifeline’ in 1976 by the late Jeanette Knight.  Initially, the focus was to offer relief, care and assistance to pregnant women and mothers of young children, in any way that was possible.

There have been significant changes over the years, with an emphasis on our services becoming more professional, accessible and accountable, in line with the standards and requirements of 21st century charitable activities. Counselling, in particular has become more rigorously regulated in the last decades. PCC(S) has achieved COSCA’s (Confederation of Scottish Counselling Agencies) required standard for recognition as a counselling organisation.

Practical assistance has developed over the years and we can now offer a range of sizes of baby clothing, cots, moses baskets, bedding, high chairs, prams, bouncers and baths/bath seats.  All recycled and donated clothing and equipment is thoroughly checked and sorted by our volunteers and then assembled into Newborn Starter Packs, or offered as individual items, as required.
